For many years, African-Americans have had some of the lowest flu vaccination rates in the country, despite the fact that they are at greater risk of getting the flu than the general population.
To bridge this gap, the L.A. County Department of Public Health & L.A. Care Health Plan’s Inglewood Family Resource Center partnered to bring a free flu vaccine clinic today to the Inglewood community, where many African-Americans live, in an effort to address this widespread public health issue and increase vaccination rates among this population.
Dr. Bruce Hensel, Chief Medical, Health & Science Editor and Correspondent for KNBC, Channel 4, covered the free flu vaccine clinic and interviewed L.A. Care spokesperson, Dr. Roderick Seamster, Chief Medical Officer at Watts Healthcare Corporation, who spoke about the importance of getting vaccinated this flu season.
