Southern California PPE Consortium

The U.S. suffered a severe shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. PPE prices increased dramatically, forcing medical providers to compete with each other for limited availability.  Although conditions have improved, it is important that we prepare to ensure this does not happen again.

In August 2020, L.A. Care Health Plan, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC), and leaders from the business and economic development communities formed the Southern California PPE Consortium to develop a plan to ensure that the region is not caught unprepared in the next health care emergency.

After evaluating numerous manufacturers, we are pleased to announce that we have selected a highly qualified vendor, Dell Corning, to provide quality, competitively-priced PPE supplies in Southern California counties for routine consumption, surge capacity, and stockpiling reserve.

Our ultimate objective is to bring PPE manufacturing to Southern California. To do this, we need your help in participating in our PPE program.

We are calling upon health care leaders to commit to purchasing a portion of their normal PPE inventory through this collaborative effort, in order to make this venture a reality.

Once the ordering volume reaches a sustainable level, Dell Corning will produce the PPE in Southern California and maintain a stockpile that could support the region in any future health care crisis.
