L.A. Care Marks Black History Month With a Series of Webinars on Health in the Black Community

A Live Social Media Event on COVID-19 Vaccinations is Part of the Commemoration

The 2022 national theme for Black History Month, which begins tomorrow, is Black Health and Wellness. L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest publicly operated health plan in the country, will mark this important observance with a series of four webinars and a social media live event that will continue the health plan’s commitment to advancing health equity in Los Angeles County. Each event will include experts in different areas that impact the health of Black communities.

The four Zoom webinars will focus on topics that include access to health care, nutrition and wellness, housing and homelessness, and mental health within Black communities. The social media live event, which will be featured on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, will focus on the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19, and seek to address misinformation for those who remain vaccine hesitant. The virus disproportionately impacted Black communities in L.A. County, and yet vaccination rates in these communities remain lower than the countywide average.

Here are the details on each event, which are open to the all:
