2019-2020 Annual Report
A look back on how L.A. County’s Healthcare Heroes navigated the global pandemic

If there is one thing we can all agree on during these difficult times, it is that those on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic — grocery workers, transportation drivers, teachers, healthcare providers, delivery people, restaurant workers and more — deserve all of our gratitude and praise. Thank you will never be enough.

Walk through with us some of the highs and lows that L.A. Care providers experienced over the past year.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

Dr. Susana Santiago-Soriano

Dr. Susana Santiago-Soriano is a pediatrician in private practice, serving an average of 2,300 patients annually. No doubt, this has been the most unique experience in her 35-year career.

Dr. Pejman Bahari-Nejad

Dr. Pejman Bahari-Nejad serves about 2,000 patients every year. He chose a career in medicine in order to empower patients to achieve a happier life through healthy living, skills that important now more than ever.

Dr. Julius Kpaduwa

Dr. Julius Kpaduwa is an OB-GYN attending to about 9,600 patient visits each year. He says his father was a nurse in the military, which undoubtedly taught Dr. Kpaduwa lessons he has leaned on throughout the past year.

Dr. Charles Goodman

Dr. Charles Goodman serves about 3,500 patients each year. He says he chose a career in medicine because it combines science with helping people, especially children. He knew it would provide a lifetime of opportunities to keep children healthy – who would have thought he would be treating patients through a global pandemic?
