L.A. Care Health Plan and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan will mark the opening of our first jointly-operated Community Resource Center in Pomona with a community celebration on Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 9 am to noon.

The Community Resource Center at 696 West Holt Avenue in Pomona, is one of seven new centers that will open across L.A. County in the coming years as part of the $146 million, five-year commitment announced by the two health plans in September. Seven existing centers will be either renovated or moved to larger locations.

The new collaboration will result in enhanced services for members of each plan and the communities surrounding each resource center. The centers will offer a wide variety of no cost exercise, nutrition, and health management classes in a safe, fun and inclusive space. Community organizations and county workers will also help connect visitors to much-needed social services.

Ultimately, these services will help improve health outcomes as they work to keep visitors active, healthy and informed.

The community celebration will include raffles, balloon animals, face painting, and a rock climbing wall. Free haircuts for kids, and free health screenings will also be available.
