Guests can receive a vaccine + free groceries at the same time
As the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations ticks up again in Los Angeles County, L.A. Care Health Plan, the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan, is pleased to announce yet another effort to vaccinate county residents against the deadly virus. The health plan is happy to welcome the L.A. County Department of Public Health (DPH) to the Community Resource Centers it operates with Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan.
To further encourage all members and residents in their communities to get vaccinated, many of the events will include a food pantry. The Community Resource Centers have been holding regular food pantries as food insecurity has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
L.A. Care is also participating in the state’s COVID-19 Vaccination Incentive Program, so any of the health plan’s eligible Medi-Cal and CalMediConnect (CMC) members who get their first or second shot at one of these events will be eligible to receive a $50 gift card in the mail. This applies to eligible members 12 years and older, and the gift cards arrive several weeks after the vaccine.
