A COVID-19 vaccine for children under age five (5) is on the horizon. However, most pharmacies and community vaccination events will not vaccinate children under age three. The provider office is the only place available for the youngest children to get vaccinated.

L.A. Care has partnered with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s (DPH) Immunization Program to encourage and assist you with adding the COVID-19 vaccine to your practice, so you can join the effort to keep our kids and communities safe against the COVID-19 virus.

As part of this effort, here are additional resources and information that may help with your decision to join:

  • DPH will have staff available to walk you (step-by-step) through the enrollment and ordering process. They can answer any questions you may have by phone 1.833.505.0761, or by email at COVAXonboard@ph.lacounty.gov.

  • Vaccines for Children (VFC) providers who enroll in the COVID-19 Vaccination Program (myCAvax) from now through May 27, could be eligible for $10K to support the enrollment and launching of the vaccine program. Learn more at the myCAvax website.

  • VFC Providers who received a CalVaxGrant are eligible for the $15K-for-15 hours program only.

  • L.A. Care is committed to reimburse practices ($40/dose) for each COVID-19 vaccine administered.

  • Practices DO NOT need a Freezer or Ultra Low Temperature (ULT) Freezer to store the vaccine. A fridge that that is able to maintain all vaccines (2-8 °C or 36-46°F) is sufficient and the COVID-19 vaccine can be stored for up to 10 weeks.

L.A. Care strongly encourages you to sign up to be a COVID-19 vaccine administrator for your patients. Visit L.A. Care's COVID-19 Resources for information on how to sign up for this program.
