L.A. Care has welcomed Gertrude “Trudi” Carter, M.D., as its Chief Medical Officer effective November 2012. Dr. Carter most recently was CMO at CalOptima, L.A. Care’s sister Medi-Cal health plan in Orange County, where she led the health plan’s quality efforts to become one of the top three Medi-Cal health plans in California. At L.A. Care, Dr. Carter is responsible for providing clinical and administrative oversight for all medical administration and clinical functions with a focus on improving L.A. Care’s quality for members through contracted plans and providers.
Dr. Carter joins L.A. Care following the recent departure of Elaine Batchlor, M.D., MPH, to become Chief Executive Officer of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital.
