The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH) issued a health alert on October 29, 2020. This alert asks providers to be vigilant for cases of wound botulism, especially in injection drug users. Six cases of wound botulism associated with heroin injection have been reported in Los Angeles County since June 2020. The alert provides information about symptoms, diagnosis and reporting.
