L.A. Care’s Community Partner Collaborative Launches Donation Drop-off and Distribution Center to Support Those Impacted by Southern California Wildfires

Donations Can Be Picked up at the Center of Hope Church in Inglewood

As the wildfires continue to devastate the Southern California region, L.A. Care Health Plan has brought together a network of community partners to support residents who were forced to leave their neighborhoods, many of which have been destroyed. Many fled the flames with only the clothes on their backs, or not much more. The L.A. Care Community Collaborative is accepting contributions of essential items that can be dropped off at any of the 13 Community Resource Centers that L.A. Care operates with Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan. Items can also be dropped off at the Center of Hope Church at 9550 Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood.

Items that are being accepted include:
•    Non-perishable food
•    Water
•    Hygiene products
•    Household supplies

Donations will be accepted at the church from 8:00am-6:00 pm daily until January 18, 2025. Donations will be accepted at the Community Resource Centers starting Wednesday, January 15, between 9:00am and 5:00pm for the rest of the week.

Individuals impacted by the fires can pick up needed items 8:00am-6:00pm daily from Center of Hope Church until January 18, 2025.

L.A. Care is proud to be working with a number of community partners on this collaborative. They include:
•    Advocates for African American Elders
•    Alzheimer’s Association Southern California Chapter
•    Center of Hope Church
•    Council of Black Nurses, Los Angeles, Inc.
•    Health Matters Clinic
•    Humanity Heroes
•    Jenesse Center, Inc. – Domestic Violence Intervention & Prevention Program
•    National Action Network

While rebuilding is going to take some time, L.A. Care and its partners want to help those who have suffered great loss with some basic needs. People can also receive help connecting to longer-term resources, such as food and housing, at each of the L.A. Care and Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Centers. L.A. Care, which serves more than 2.6 million residents across L.A. County, is committed to advancing health equity. As the largest health plan in the county, it works everyday to ensure its members and their communities have a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
