Infants Need On-time Checkups and Vaccines!

May-June 2024

doctor checking baby According to the Bright Futures Periodicity Schedule as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), children need up to 10 well-child visits by 30 months and 10 vaccines by age two.

L.A. Care requires providers to follow the Bright Future schedule when it comes to the health of L.A. Care’s youngest members. Remind yourselves, clinic staff, and your patients about the importance of on-time visits and vaccines. Help your patients stay on track with well-child visits and vaccines. Prioritize scheduling members who are behind in well-child visits and vaccines. Your support to parent/guardians during these well-child visits are key in fostering healthy decisions for their children.

For easy-to-read resources, go to: L.A. Care Baby Basics web page, HealthyBabiesLA.org, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Child Immunization Schedule by Age.

The L.A. Care Missing Vaccine Reports and W30 Reports are available on the L.A. Care Provider Portal. Use these reports to help close well-child and immunization gaps. Remember to document member immunizations into the California Immunization Registry (CAIR). For questions regarding L.A. Care member gaps, email Quality Improvement
