In celebration of Black History Month, L.A. Care is teaming with the California Black Health Network and the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) to engage members and others in a virtual conversation about the Foundation’s study titled Listening to Black Californians: How the Health Care System Undermines Their Pursuit of Good Health.
Through a series of in-depth interviews, focus groups, and a statewide survey, the study examined Black Californians’ experiences with racism and the influence it yields over their health care and outcomes. The panelists on the L.A. Care webinar will discuss the findings of the CHCF study when it comes to inequities in health care, and the ways communities can advocate for leaders to address equity gaps.
This webinar is in alignment with L.A. Care’s commitment to advancing health equity, where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
The moderator of the panel is Shavonda Webber-Christmas, L.A. Care’s Director of Community Benefits.
The panelists include:
• Katherine Haynes, Senior Program Officer, California Healthcare Foundation
• Rhonda Smith, Executive Director, California Health Network
• Shakari Byerly, Partner and Principle Researcher, Evitarus
• Candice Mays, Project Director, Voice Media Ventures
