Retail Clinics

L.A. Care Medi-Cal, Cal MediConnect and L.A. Care Covered ™ Members can use MinuteClinic® walk-in retail clinics as a option for care.

When you can't reach your primary care doctor, MinuteClinic is one way you can get care for some health issues that are not life-threatening (like a sprained ankle or sore throat).

What Is a MinuteClinic?

MinuteClinic is a walk-in retail clinic found in some CVS Pharmacy stores. They are staffed by nurse practitioners who can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for minor illnesses, injuries and skin conditions. Some women's health services are also available, as well as vaccinations for those 19 years old and older.

No appointment needed! Just walk into a MinuteClinic near you! You do not need to get pre-approval before going.

What Is the Cost for Members?

MinuteClinic visits are free for L.A. Care Cal MediConnect and Medi-Cal members. They cost the same as an urgent care visit for L.A. Care Covered ™ members, after your deductible has been met. To learn more, refer to your member coverage documents. PASC-SEIU members are not covered.

How to Use a MinuteClinic

Always call your regular doctor first. Both MinuteClinic and Urgent Care Centers should be used only when your doctor is not available. You can also call the L.A. Care Nurse Advice Line at 1.800.249.3619 if you are not sure whether you need urgent care, emergency services or self-care at home.

Walk-ins are welcome at a MinuteClinic — just sign in at their electronic kiosk. MinuteClinics are open seven days a week, but be sure to check the hours as they vary by location and season.

Find a MinuteClinic

You can look up a MinuteClinic in the L.A. Care Provider Directory under Retail Clinics. Type in "Minute" in the Retail Clinic Name or enter your address to see ones near you.

When you find a MinuteClinic in the Provider Directory, you can click on the location's website link at the bottom. There you can view the wait times for that clinic. You may be able to hold your place in line the same day if the clinic is not too busy, or schedule your visit on another day.

L.A. Care works with all MinuteClinics in Los Angeles County and three just outside of L.A. County in Seal Beach, Thousand Oaks and Yorba Linda.
