L.A. Care’s Chief Medical Officer among Featured Panelists at Statewide Health Conference

L.A. Care Chief Medical Officer, Sameer Amin, MD, at CAHP Conference

The California Association of Health Plans (CAHP), a statewide trade association representing public and private health care plans, is holding its 2024 Annual Conference in Palm Desert this week. The three-day conference, which begins today, draws more than 1,000 health care professionals. It will include a panel titled Improving the Hospital Discharge Process that features the Chief Medical Officer of L.A. Care Health Plan, Sameer Amin, MD.

While health plans must meet timely access rules, hospitals are responsible for meeting patient discharge requirements. Their roles and responsibilities are different, but they must work together to ensure patients are getting the care they need in the appropriate setting, including Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). Amin will discuss how L.A. Care is collaborating with hospitals and SNFs to build trust between the stakeholders and ease the transfer process to improve health outcomes for members. Amin will be joined by Dennis Hsieh, MD, the Chief Medical Officer of Central California Alliance for Health, and Chris Esguerra, MD, the Chief Medical Officer of Health Plan of San Mateo.

Other panels during the event will focus on the transformation of Medi-Cal, expanding and improving access on the Covered California exchange, healthcare affordability, and more. CAHP says healthcare professionals will learn how colleagues are dealing with changes, taking on new responsibilities, implementing laws and regulations, and planning for the future.
