L.A. Care Sponsors West Hollywood’s Inaugural WeHo Pride Weekend

After four decades of hosting LA Pride, the city of West Hollywood is hosting its own WeHo Pride weekend this year. The city, where more than 40% of residents identify as LGBTQ+, is kicking off the three-day celebration tomorrow and L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest publicly operated health plan in the country, is proud to be a sponsor of the event.

L.A. Care is a diverse and welcoming workplace that is committed to health equity. Research has shown that LGBTQ+ individuals face health disparities linked to societal stigma, discrimination, and denial of their civil and human rights. In addition to providing access to quality, inclusive care for members, L.A. Care believes sponsoring events like WeHo Pride are an important way to stand with LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

The celebration will include a free street fair adjacent to West Hollywood Park and a ticketed music festival in the park. L.A. Care will have an informational booth with giveaways at the street fair on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4. On Sunday, June 5, the celebration will feature the WeHo Pride Parade. L.A. care will have a contingent of more than 90 employees and guests on hand to march in the parade, which will be televised live on KTLA starting at noon.

In addition to sponsoring LA Pride over several years, L.A. Care has also been a proud sponsor of previous Long Beach and Compton Pride events. The health plan is excited to join West Hollywood as it welcomes as many 175,000 attendees over the three days. WeHo Pride will use proceeds to support the LGBTQ Youth and Homelessness program at Covenant House.
