L.A. Care Launches Series of Healthy Living Workshops for Older Adults in Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County has two million residents who are 60 or older, and that number is supposed to be near three million by 2030. Most older Americans have at least one chronic health condition, and many are dealing with multiple health issues. L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest health plan in Los Angeles County, is launching a series of workshops to help older adults stay healthy, which will allow them to live independently longer.

The workshops will consist of a variety of presentations that will help older adults reduce stress, understand healthcare, and find local resources. Presentation topics include:
•    Easy tips for eating healthy and staying active
•    Ways to keep your mind sharp
•    Simple relaxation techniques
•    How to avoid dishonest schemes
•    Basics of healthcare and how it can work for you

Each workshop will include a question & answer session, where older adults will be able to get even more information about important issues impacting their day to day living.

The first workshop is:
Friday, September 27
9:30 am – 11:00 am
Darby Park, 3400 W Arbor Vitae Street, Inglewood

Workshops will be held across the county. To get details on each workshop as they are scheduled, go to lacare.org/events.
