As we face an unprecedented pandemic, it feels strange to look back on the past year in review. Was there a time pre-COVID? But, from supporting our members’ social needs to adding value to our provider network, the building blocks featured in our annual report created the foundation on which we now build our COVID-19 response.
Please know that L.A. Care Health Plan will continue working with you — our provider partners — and county health leaders to ensure our members have access to the health care they need.
As you know, L.A. Care has been a publicly operated health plan since 1997, serving Medi-Cal members in Los Angeles County. In 2014, L.A. Care began participating in Covered California, the state’s Affordable Care Act exchange.
In doing so, we became the first true public option in the marketplace… and guess what? Our model is thriving and serves as a case study for members of Congress who are looking to increase health care access, particularly in uncertain times.
Our 2018-2019 annual report is a reflection of how proud we are of the work L.A. Care is doing as the people’s health plan. We remain committed to our vision of health care access and quality for all of our members.
