Palmdale Community Resource Center Manager Named Female Leader of the Year

Rocio Castellanos, the Manager of the L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Center in Palmdale

The nonprofit SALVA  in Palmdale is hosting its 6th Anniversary Gala Dinner, which will include an awards ceremony honoring community leaders in the Antelope Valley. Among the honorees is Rocio Castellanos, the Manager of the L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Center in Palmdale. Castellanos has been named the Mujer Lider del Año or Woman Leader of the Year. Castellanos is one of 12 people being recognized for their work to create positive change in the Antelope Valley.

SALVA is an immigrant rights organization that offers a wide variety of support services for the undocumented and those looking to gain citizenship. These include Know Your Rights and Deportation Defense Workshops. The organization also hosts literacy, computer and citizenship classes. 

Castellanos is specifically being recognized for the work she did through the Community Resource Center to support low-income families during the pandemic. This work included food pantries and vaccination efforts, and collaboration with community-based organizations to advance the education, health and quality of life for others in the community. She is also being honored for being an important voice in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
