Staying Healthy While Staying at Home: L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Centers to Offer Virtual Classes

Staying healthy while stuck at home can be difficult, but the L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Center network is taking steps to help during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders.

Out of an abundance of caution, L.A. Care and Blue Shield Promise decided to close their resource centers across Los Angeles County on March 18, even before the city and state announced stay-at-home orders.

Now, with no clear end-date for the stay-at-home orders, the L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Centers are launching a series of on-demand virtual classes for anyone who wants to stay active, healthy and informed.

Starting Wednesday, April 22, there will be at least four new classes posted on the Community Resource Centers’ YouTube channel each week. The on-demand classes will include:

  • Fitness and Exercise Classes, such as Yoga and Zumba
  • Nutrition and Healthy Cooking Classes
  • Classes for Kids and Families

Current resource center instructors are teaching the on-demand classes, so regular resource center guests will see familiar faces each week. To access the on-demand classes, anyone can go to the Community Resource Center YouTube library via bit.ly/ActiveHealthyInformed.
