Over 2,100 Medi-Cal Health Care Providers Join L.A. Care’s California Technical Assistance Program

A project of L.A. Care Health Plan, HITEC-LA helps clinicians and their staff use electronic health technology to help improve patient care

Los Angeles – HITEC-LA, a project of L.A. Care Health Plan, achieved a significant milestone by enrolling 2,165 Medi-Cal health care providers into the California Technical Assistance Program (CTAP), reaching its membership goal. In 2015, the California Department of Health Care Services awarded HITEC-LA a contract of up to $10.8 million over three years to provide electronic health record (EHR) technical assistance to L.A. County providers in an effort to help transform their practice by achieving meaningful use.

“We are thrilled that more Medi-Cal providers are embracing this important resource,” said L.A. Care CEO John Baackes. “The more clinicians are trained to use EHRs, the closer we are to achieving better health outcomes for our members.”

HITEC-LA is one of four organizations selected to participate in CTAP. CTAP continues assistance provided by Health IT Regional Extension Centers such as HITEC-LA and expands scope to include additional provider types such as specialists and providers in medium or large practices.
