L.A. Care Partners with Angel City FC to Promote Healthy Lifestyles and Youth Sports for Girls in Los Angeles

The Partnership Is Part of L.A. Care’s Women’s History Month Observances

L.A. Care Health Plan is proud to announce that it is partnering with Angel City FC, the National Women’s Soccer League team, which is starting its third season in L.A. this weekend, to promote healthy lifestyles and youth sports for girls in Los Angeles County. Recent research shows that only one-third of girls ages 6 to 11 meet health physical activity guidelines, and the number only declines as the girls grow up. As a health plan committed to health equity, which means everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible, L.A. Care is pleased to help spread the word about the benefits of girls sports programs and the importance of regular physical activity.

L.A. Care will have staff at 13 Angel City FC home games to share information about the health plan. They will have a booth with giveaways during the Fan Fests and Street Fairs, which are held before each home game. L.A. Care will also support youth soccer skills clinics that will be led by Girls Play Los Angeles, an L.A. Department of Recreation & Parks program focused on girls’ sports in under-served communities.

This partnership also comes during Women’s History Month as part of L.A. Care’s commitment to elevating women.
