The Los Angeles Business Journal featured L.A. Care's Elevating the Safety Net initiative in their Health Care and Biotech column, published on July 23, 2018. "Scholarships for Docs" talks about the $31 million initiative that will address the growing shortage of physicians in California, which especially threatens residents who receive care through the safety net.
Elevating the Safety Net includes 3 programs: one will provide medical school loan repayments to physicians recruited to work in L.A. County's safety net; another will provide grants to safety net clinics and private practices for salary subsidies, sign-on bonuses and/or relocation costs for such recruits; and the third provides scholarships for medical students who are committed to working in safety net communities.
