Axios interviewed health insurers that sell Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans, including L.A. Care, to see how open enrollment has fared thus far in "What insurers are seeking as enrollment wraps up."
L.A. Care Health Plan CEO John Baackes said his company, which has 25,000 ACA members this year, is on track to more than double its enrollment. Roughly 32,000 new enrollees have signed up this period. Many of them are coming from Anthem, which pulled out of many California markets.
Please note that while the article talks about open enrollment ending December 15, Covered California has different deadlines:
1. Enroll by December 22, 2017 for health coverage to start January 1, 2018.
2. Enroll by January 31, 2018 — the last day of Covered California's open enrollment — for health coverage that will start March 1, 2018.
